Hey 😉
It's been a while since my last post. Everyone who reads my blog has probably got used to the fact that I write irregularly 😅😂. During this time, several new albums and extended versions of albums released in 2020 have appeared. Only you know I have periods that I feel like writing about it, and sometimes I need a break from it 😊.
However, today I decided to "come back" because my favorite artist Tim McGraw (😍) released the album "Here On Earth: Ultimate Edition" on April 16, 2021, which is an extended CD version of the same title album from 2020.
The album consists of 24 tracks:
1. L.A*. - interesting intro. The musical arrangement, in my opinion, is similar to that used in films from the past. It is definitely a love song
2. Chevy Spaceship* - Interesting introduction to the song. I like the musical rearrangement, especially the moment you can hear the guitars.
3. Here On Earth* - I think this is one of the best songs you can hear on this album. He is looking for an answer to an probably eternal question: why are we here on Earth.
4. Damn Sure Do* - I like the musical arrangement and the slow pace of the song. Plus, Tim's engaging voice makes you want to listen to this song all the time.
5. Hallelujahville* - This is a song that praises life in your hometown. Each of us probably wanted / or dreamed of living in a big city, but the sentiment to the place where we grew up still remains (that's my opinion).
6. Good Taste In Women* - Contrary to the previous songs, this composition is energetic and the lyrics are catchy.
7. Hard To Stay Mad At* - I personally love this track. I like the musical arrangement used here and you can hear the emotionality in the artist's voice, it's a love song. It is worth adding that one of the song's composers is Lori McKenna, the author of Tim Humble And Kind's hit from the album "Damn Country Music" (2015).
8. Sheryl Crow* - nice start to the song. A reference to the famous country artist Sheryl Crow appears. The narrator compares his infatuation with the girl to the first time he heard the song performed by the aforementioned singer and could not forget it. So this piece can be classified as a love composition.
9. Not From California* - I like the musical arrangement. It is undoubtedly a nostalgic song, and Tim is a great expression of emotions.
10. Hold You Tonight* - this is another composition that I love. Even though it is the next love song, the lyrics and the musical arrangement mean you can listen all the time.
11. 7500 OBO* - Here you can hear a nice intro. Unlike the previous songs, this is about a failed relationship and the narrator wants to sell a car that reminds him of his ex-girlfriend. OBO stands for: or better offer. It is worth noting that there is a reference to Tim's song Where The Green Grass Grows from the album "Everywhere" (1997).
12. If I Was A Cowboy* - honestly this song is not bad, but somehow I didn't like it. You can hear a nice guitar sound at the end of the song.
13. I Called Mama* - this is the first single promoting the album. This song is very touching. I think this is one of the best compositions you can hear on this album.
14. Gravy* - for me it's another touching piece that you can listen to over and over again. I also like the musical instruments used here.
15. War Of Art* - I like the calm musical arrangement you can hear here. Tim McGraw shows that he is great at such compositions. It is worth noting that the song was co-composed by The Warren Brothers, the artist's long-time friends. Together with Tim they wrote the song If You Reading This from his album "Let It Go" (2007).
16. Doggone* - you can hear a nice musical arrangement here. It reminds me a bit of country songs from the 90s. In my opinion it is a nostalgic song, but you can listen to it all the time.
17. Undivided*** - this is the second single promoting this album. The song was written by Florida Georgia Line duo member Tyler Hubbard, who is also heard here. I like the arrangement very much, but the words are poignant and true, telling us that they should unite, not divide. Tyler wrote this song under the influence of negative developments in the US: the COVID-19 pandemic, shootings, etc.
18. Thought About You** - The song was released in 2019 as a single. A beautiful, nostalgic piece about how an event, meeting or favorite song can remind you of someone who is important to us.
19. Neon Church** - originally the composition was released in 2018 as a single. I like the musical arrangement of the song and the lyrics are catchy.
20. Cuttin 'Onions* - I like the intro of the song. The musical arrangement reminds me a bit of songs from the 90s. It is the kind of song that, despite its inconspicuous title, presents a moving story. Tim McGraw himself said that this composition reminds him of his childhood, which was not always happy.
21. Truth Is* - in my opinion it is a beautiful song about unfulfilled love, with a calm musical arrangement (great sound of guitars). The artist's voice is very poignant, which makes you want to listen to this composition all the time.
22. God Moves The Pen*** - brand new track. In my opinion it is a great composition "explaining" why love was, is and probably will always be the subject of books or songs. It reminds me a bit of Tim's songs from the 90s or 00 '.
23. Keep Your Eyes On Me** - this is a track recorded for the movie "Chata" from 2017. You can also hear his wife, a famous artist, Faith Hill. Every time they sing together they sound amazing. It is worth adding that this is the first song they composed together.
24. Gravity** - the artist wrote this song with the great composer Lori McKenna (author of the song "Humble And Kind") for the documentary "Free Solo" dedicated to the climber Alex Honnald. I like the musical arrangement of this piece.
Track colors:
* - songs released in the basic version of the album
* - songs released in the extended version of the album for Target stores (USA)
** - songs previously released as singles in 2018/2019
** - songs recorded for movies
*** - new songs
I will probably always have a sentiment for the album "Here On Earth", because it was released on my 25th birthday (August 21, 2020 - I'm writing about the basic version of the album) 😂. It was a very nice gift for me. But then I felt so unsatisfied that there are not enough songs (I know I'm picky 😜). So when I found out that the artist was going to release an extended version of the CD, I couldn't wait to hear it. Although there are only two new songs on the album: "Undivided" and "God Moves The Pen" because we could hear the rest of the songs before, I think the whole thing makes a very nice album. Each song represents different emotions that we all have: love, sadness, joy, nostalgia, etc. Tim McGraw had a vision to represent the different stages of life that people experience. I am very happy that he made it, although I was counting on more new compositions.
I rate this album 4.8 / 5.
