"McGraw Machine Hits 2013 - 2019" - great covers and other hits on the new Tim McGraw's album (Album Review) [English Version]
Hey 😉
Three months ago, Tim McGraw released his album "Here On Earth" (on August 21, 2020), and his next CD "McGraw Machine Hits 2013 - 2019" has already appeared, which was released on November 20, 2020.
The album consists of 14 tracks:
1. How I'll Always Be - originally the track is on the artist's album "Damn Country Music" from 2015 as the 3rd single promoting the above-mentioned album. It can be written that this is such an assurance from the narrator that he was always himself. I don't think the song is bad, but I personally don't like it.
2. Humble And Kind - Originally the song was released as the 2nd single from "Damn Country Music". This is a beautiful song written by a great artist - Lori McKenna. Even though it's been 5 years since you could hear it, it still makes you feel moved. Lori McKenna brilliantly conveyed the message of this song, which is "always be modest and kind". No wonder that the composition was as successful as Tim's other hit "Live Like You Were Dying" (from the 2004 album of the same name).
3. Top Of The World - originally it was the 1st single from the CD "Damn Country Music". Despite the energetic musical arrangement, it is a great love song.
4. Diamond Rings And Old Barstools - you can find this track on the album "Sundown Heaven Town" (2014) as 4th single. The singer performs this song with his cousin Catherine Dunn. Their voices complement each other perfectly. This is a song about a failed relationship where the narrators realized they didn't fit together.
5. Shotgun Rider - 3rd single promoting the album "Sundown Heaven Town". I like the fast tempo of the song and the lyrics are catchy. The composition is undoubtedly about love because the narrator cannot imagine living with anyone other than his beloved.
6. Nashville Without You - originally the track can be heard on the album "Two Lanes Of Freedom" (2013) and is not a promotional single. This is a song that distinguishes famous songs by such artists as: Johnny Cash, Reba McEntire, Hank Williams Jr. and many others. Thanks to them, Nashville became famous as a city associated with country music.
7. Meanwhile Back At Mama's - 2nd single from "Sundown Heaven Town" album. The artist performs the song with his wife - Faith Hill. As always, their voices complement each other perfectly. The song is a bit nostalgic.
8. Southern Girl - 4th single from CD "Two Lanes Of Freedom". A fun, energetic song. Perfect for parties. Here you can see that Tim is not afraid to use modern music technology (you can hear it in the chorus).
9. The Highway Don't Care - originally featured on the album "Two Lanes Of Freedom" and was released as the 3rd promotional single. Ever since I heard it for the first time, I knew it was going to be a hit. I really like the fact that the artist invited Taylor Swift and Keith Urban to record a song. Taylor and Tim's voices fit together perfectly, and Keith's musical abilities as the main guitarist of the song are phenomenal. Thanks to this, the song gained a cool, energetic musical arrangement.
10. One Of Those Nights - 2nd single from "Two Lanes OF Freedom" album. I like the fast tempo of the song. Despite its nostalgia, it's not a typical sad song.
11. Truck Yeah - originally released as the 1st single promoting the album "Two Lanes Of Freedom". Listening to it, one gets the impression that the words are meaningless, but catchy. I love this energetic musical arrangement (especially the strong sound of electric guitars).
12. Drive - originally the song was supposed to be on the artist's album from Sony Music, but their cooperation did not take place. This is a cover of a 1984 song by The Cars. Tim McGraw is known for recording covers on his albums. Personally, I love his version.
13. May We All - the singer performs the song with the duo Florida Georgia Line. This is the 2nd single promoting their album "Dig Your Roots" (2016).
14. Redneck Girl - originally recorded by the duo The Bellamy Brothers in 1982. Tim performs it with the band Midland. This version has not been published before. I don't know the original, but I think the voices of the artists fit together very well. I also like that Tim refers to his wife in this song. In the last line he sings "... give me a Mississippi Girl" (Faith Hill is from this state).
"McGraw Machine Hits 2013 - 2019" is the 13th compilation with hits in the artist's career. However, this is his first compilation for Big Machine Records. Ever since Tim McGraw released these three albums: "Two Lanes Of Freedom", "Sundown Heaven Town" and "Damn Country Music" I was wondering if there would ever be a compilation with songs from these albums and finally I lived to see it. The only thing I would change is the song "Nashville Without You" to the song "Lookin 'For That Girl" (1 single from CD "Sundown Heaven Town") or another, for example, previously unpublished.
I rate this album: 4.7 / 5.
